Computer science learning is for everyone, and counselors play an important role in fostering student opportunity. Choosing the right "on-ramp" for computer science can be a challenge. How do we ensure a student’s first CS experience builds confidence to launch students on their computer science journey? This session will center research from the Chicago Alliance for Equity in Computer Science to support counselors in course decision-making when placing students in their initial computer science classes. We will highlight key findings, share placement resources, and dispel common misconceptions.
